Frequently Asked Questions
How long does my hair have to be to get dreadlocks braided?
For the most beautiful and durable result, I like to work with hair at least 10 cm long . Longer is always welcome. Are there any shorter strands in between? That's fine, but they can sometimes be a bit unruly—in that case, do so at your own risk.
How many dreadlocks do I need approximately?
This varies depending on the desired look. As a guideline:
• Full head → usually 50–60 pieces
• Partial → usually 9–21 pieces
Do you like extra volume? Then you can opt for a set with (more) double-ended dreads.
How do I prepare my hair for braiding?
• Stop using conditioner at least 2 weeks in advance .
• Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove built-up silicones or oils.
• Then switch to a dreadlock-friendly shampoo .
• And: wash your hair one more time 2 days before your appointment .
So we start with a clean, fresh base — that's what weaves in the most beautifully.
How long can braided dreadlocks last?
On average 2 to 3 months .
The dreadlocks are set tightly (but not too tightly!); as your hair grows, the roots will drop slightly. When you want to have them renewed is entirely up to you, but 2 to 3 months is a good rule of thumb. By then, your own hair will often start to knot/dread at the roots as well.
Can I swim or go to the sauna with braided dreadlocks?
That is not a problem.
Sea, swimming pool, salt bath, sauna — all fine.
The only important thing: make sure your hair is clean and dry again before you go to sleep .
Ready for your transformation?
You can easily book through the calendar. I look forward to starting your dreadlock journey together.
